While running your own business or even website (such as a blog) can be very fulfilling, it’s not something that can continue if you’re not getting any traffic. The lifeblood of a website doesn’t only have a good server, but it has traffic. Traffic is what helps make businesses have longevity. It’s what helps hobbies and businesses stay relevant. While traffic is amazing, and it’s something to be so proud of, there is one thing you need to think about, how can you get traffic?
This is a contributed post. Please refer to my disclosure for more information.
Better yet, how can you get traffic for your website without having to stress over spending an arm and a leg on it? Some companies will spend hundreds of thousands on marketing just to get more traffic. Needless to say, it can all be complicated. But with that said, you can cut down on spending, so here’s everything you need to know.
It’s All About SEO
SEO is pretty easy to improve, and while it might be a slow game, it’s known for being the best! Just because you put up a website doesn’t mean “they will come.” You need to implement a marketing program that will bring in the traffic. That’s why SEO is so important. It’s a series of best practices and methodologies that marketers use to make their content and websites more easily found on search engines like Google. Whether you are a donut shop owner in Amsterdam or a tech blog, the key is to find ways to rank first when people search for the topics that are most relevant to your business. Nowadays, SEO comes in so many forms, like good keywords for landing pages and long and insightful content for blogs, but the list can truly just go on and on.
PPC
Surprisingly, PPC doesn’t seem to be nearly as big as it once was, but unlike other forms of online ads, you only need to pay for what people choose to click on. Think about it, even if someone doesn’t click on your ad, they’re still going to see it, and they’ll still familiarise themselves with your logo. Usually, a Pay Per Click Agency is the best way to go about this.
Consider Social Media
Can you pay for social media ads? Yes, you can, but you don’t have to. You don’t technically need to pay anyone to do your social media for you, either. A well-planned social media presence can help improve brand awareness, generate bursts of traffic, and turn engaged followers into valuable customers. However, it’s important to understand the ins and outs of each platform so you can be confident that your strategies are working effectively.
For example, you should set up a business account with each platform so you can access its analytics. You should also create a content calendar and stick to it to ensure consistency in your posts. How you do social media for your personal life isn’t going to be the same as how it’s done for a business.
