You deserve to be able to add as many opportunities as possible to your resume and if you want it to stand out, this is the best way to make a start. You should do everything possible to ensure that your resume is the one that people pick up and fall in love with. So, with this in mind, we’ve got some tips to help your resume be the one that gets the attention of a possible employer.
Use The Ad Keywords
Make sure that you gear your resume towards the keywords used on the job advert. You want to ensure that your resume comes to the top of the pile and to make that happen, adding keywords that were used in the initial job description will help. It ensures that your resume is the one that is picked up first. When you’re applying for a particular job, you want to pay close attention to the advert and rewrite your resume to fit the criteria. It’s how you can be the best you can be!
Use Power Words
Add in as many power words as you can. Your resume should be dripping with good impressions and if you’re telling people that you can use your initiative professionally and you influenced others in your course of work. If you can say that you have streamlined and upgraded services, and you have motivated others to do well, you can stand out. Notice the Italic words in this tip? These are power words!
Keep It Simple
Don’t overcomplicate it. Your resume needs to be impressive but simple. It cannot have huge paragraphs and it should never go more than two pages. Brief bullet points are important, but not essays for each job. You should also ensure that you have a font that’s easy to read!
Use Images
Add a picture. You want to ensure that you are noticed, right? Well, you need a headshot added to the resume so that people know your face when they come to learn about you. You need to include your key strengths and abilities, too, and a picture says so much about you! The employer can match your face to all of your achievements.
Use Social Media
Social networking. You don’t have to just use the jobs boards to apply for work – hunt the social networks and see whether employers are available for a chat!
